Why venture capital market has not yet developed in kenya?
Ojvind KrabbeFounder AfricaPace
Venture capitalists usually look for exits - meaning that the businesses they invest in must have an already established structure and base for earnings. The VC's are looking for this, so they can build the company further, only to exit and make a multiple return on their money. These opportunities might be difficult to find in Kenya. Investing in Kenya, and Africa, is a long term game, one they might not know how to play. In addition to this, too few know the actual opportunities there are in Africa. There is still a lack of VC-culture coming in to Africa. It might be more appropriate to look at business angles with the right view and understanding of Africa to come in.
