Market access is a key challenge for farmers in Africa, which means can help solving this?
Jannek HagenProject Manager Alden Impact Capital
Examples of means:

- Establishing local and regional distribution networks to serve smallholder farmers.

- Provide access to finance for smallholder farmers.

- Provide access to a cooperative or an outgrower-scheme, whereby e.g. distribution and marketing can be jointly carried out for a number of smallholder farmers, potentially reaping a premium sales price (wholesale or retail) through an established and recognizable brand.

- Provide technical assistance to smallholder farmers in order to optimize production in terms of e.g. reducing input costs, increasing yields and increasing the quality of the produce. A compelling product in terms of price and quality will indirectly increase market access.
