What is AfricaPace?
AfricaPace is a online networking tool for developing projects and business in Africa. You can add your company and personal profile to a network, discuss business opportunities and access essential information, data and analysis about doing business in Africa. You are also able to promote your company if you provide products and services made in Africa or relevant for the African market.

What is the profile of an AfricaPace member?
AfricaPace aims at promoting a holistic approach to business development in Africa. Consequently AfricaPace is for entrepreneurs, business holders, investors, researchers, NGOs and aid organisations - all with the common goal to develop value based projects and business in Africa.

What does it cost to become a member?
In its developing phase AfricaPace works as an open platform. In the long run the concept must be based on a self-sustainable business model, created through payable extra services.

The first steps and using AfricaPace

How do I sign up?
Go to the sign-up formular and start adding in your details. The forms marked with a star have to be filled in order to complete the sign up successfully. The more precisely you fill in the form the clearer a profile you will have in the network system.

I forgot my password
Retrieve your forgotten password from the frontpage. The link is located at the top of the page, next to the login form.

My confirmation email hasn’t arrived
• Check your email application's spam or junk folder or filter
• Check that you're trying to log in from the correct email address
• If you still experience problems after the above steps, please contact the site administrator

How do I change my profile information?
Log in to your profile, then selected Edit profile from the top menu.

How do other members find me on AfricaPace?
Members are  able to find you manually in the members and branch list. If you decide to be more visible on the site it is possible to purchase promotion and marketing space on AfricaPace. Contact for further information.

How do I report abuse?
AfricaPace encourages all users to report abusive content. You report abuse by using the Report link, it is located next to the information windows in the middle of the page. Selecting the link provides you a formula for specifying and reporting the abuse. AfricaPace investigates all report and makes a fast determination of the legitimacy of the content. All abuse reports on AfricaPace are confidential.

I want to permanently delete my account
In the Edit profile section you can delete your account. Your profile and all information associated with it is completely deleted and made inaccessible for all visitors of AfricaPace within 24 hours.

Are my company and personal information secure when I sign in as a member?
Yes, the system is profesi which esnures safe storage.

Who has the right to my company and personal details once I sign up as an Africa Pace member?
When a company signs in, AfricaPace maintains the right to keep these details in its database. The communication and network created by the member during a membership period will be kept in the data base but inaccessible to other members.

Does AfricaPace distribute my user information?
It is very important for AfricaPace to maintain integrity in every aspect and respect your privacy. We don't distribute your user information to marketers or spammers.

Can others see and follow my communication with others when I use the networking function?
Yes, this forum is open for any-one to read and follow. The purpose of this feature is to create open discussion for a where members can become inspired and join discussions.

Can others see and follow my communication with others when I use closed communication forms as the inbox?
No, this forum is exclusively between the member who invited and the member who got invited for the discussion.

Once I have joined a network or a discussion group, will I then at a later stage be able to sign out from that group and avoid further contact?
Yes, it very important for AfricaPace that each individual member have their privacy and will be able to act professionally and only with the desired people.

We suggest that you read the following regulations in order to ensure that you understand and accept the conditions for being a member and user of AfricaPace. By signing in you are obliged to follow our rules and regulations. After reading please tick the designated box at the bottom of the page.

Conditions for establishing a profile

By establishing a profile on AfricaPace you accept the following conditions:
• Access to AfricaPace is limited to persons over the age of 21 with no criminal record. If you do not accept these pre-conditions you cannot sign up.
• You are not allowed to establish a profile other than your own personal profile. It is not allowed to use other peoples email addresses or false email addresses. Each member on AfricaPace must be respected and it is imperative that you treat other members the way you wish to be treated your self.

User rules:

The user is responsible for filling in correct and truthful information

• The user is responsible for any activity that takes place within his or her profile and for any potential third party involvement.
• AfricaPace has the exclusive right to expel existing members if it found that members behave unlawful or unethically, if AfricaPace services are misused and general behaviour not accepted by AfricaPace.
• You are responsible for any potential economical or legal lawsuit against AfricaPace should it occur as a consequence of your wrong doing or mismanagement of your profile.
• It is your responsibility that your soft ware and technological solutions are suitable for running AfricaPace.
• It is not allowed to use AfricaPace as a platform for marketing and promoting of own personal goods and services if it not through AfricaPace established payable system.
• It is not allowed to expose any material which relates to religious, political, sexual or racial aspects on AfricaPace.

Immaterial rights

All immaterial rights including brand, establishment and personal member information belongs to AfricaPace. The user is not allowed to distribute or use any information from AfricaPace for commercial purposes or personal economical gains.

 
AfricaPace responsibilities


AfricaPace has the obligation not to:
• Artificially develop its web-site based on falsely established profiles or moderators.
• To answer as fast as possible when members have requests to the support function.
• To permanently delete email addresses if requested upon by a member.

Limited responsibilities

 

AfricaPace is not responsible towards the user in relation to:
• Other user’s behaviour. It is possible for users to report on negative photos and text. • Contracts which are developed and signed through the network on the site. • Any direct or indirect economic or emotional loss that exceeds the one paid to AfricaPace.
• AfricaPace is not a database for the individual user as such. It is up to the individual user to make back up of the necessary information. AfricaPace cannot be made responsible for the potential loss of data and information on the site disregard the reason.

Our social responsibilities

We value:
• To operate a system that caters for fast reporting to us in relation to inappropriate or unethical behaviour on the web-site.
• To operate a system that in general allows us to be in close contact with our users.
• To operate a system that includes the fighting of scamming, spamming and fishing on the web-site. We have installed a security filter that limits the number of spammers and false members on the site but it is always advised that the users stay alert towards messages and information that might be “too good to be true” or suspicious behaviour. User privacy

Email service

• When you sign up to receive mails you agree to receive mails from AfricaPace containing information and data about the subjects that you have indicated in your sign up process as interesting for you.
• Your mail service is weekly and cannot be altered to arrive at a less or more frequent rate.
• The email will not contain any information or materials that have commercial or promotional purpose or value. An exception can be the invitation to AfricaPace related activities such as seminars, networking events and conferences.
• AfricaPace has the right to use the email system for questionnaires about its own services and product development.
• The user can at any time choose to delete the automatic email delivery by altering this function under “My profile” – “Change personal settings” – “email service”.

Data collection

• When you establish a profile on AfricaPace you also accept that your information will be stored on our servers and that part hereof can be shared with other members. Just as you can see what other members are doing, other members can see what you are doing on the website.
• At any time you can choose to contact other members using your personal email system and thereby operate outside the AfricaPace networking and monitoring system.
• When you establish a profile on AfricaPace you also choose to expose your personal data to other members and therefore evaluate your inputs carefully. This includes pictures.
• AfricaPace is using cookies within its operating system. This technicality ensures that the system remembers your email address and access to the site. If you do not want this system to work for you, you are able to disable it on your internet browser.
• Each time visiting AfricaPace your IP-address will be registered. Your IP address is the address of the computer you are using to access AfricaPace. The IP address is registered to ensure that AfricaPace always will be able to localise the computer used to access the site. This has been established to counteract on-site illegal activities.

Use of personal data

The information AfricaPace collects about you can and will be used in different ways:
• In general the information you give us will be used to create the business network AfricaPace. It provides you with the opportunity to be a part of our network instantly but also provides you with the opportunity to add networks so everyone can expand their network.
• Name and email: This is used to identify you as a user on AfricaPace so that we and other users will be able to contact you. Your email address is also used to send you emails based on your choice in the sign up process. You are able to alter the settings for the reception of emails in the function “My profile”.
• Postal and zip code: This is used to locate you geographically and for us to understand how our users are placed around the world. This will give us the opportunity to create networks and events in locations where there are a high number of AfricaPace members.
• Birth date and gender: This is use to further identify your self and make your profile more visible on AfricaPace. It is also used by us to ensure that you are at least 21 years of age.
• AfricaPace can also use the information you provide at your signup process to improve our services and functionalities by analysing the way you use the network. As an example we can use the cookies and IP-addresses to see which parts of the webpage are most frequently used and thereby improve and optimise the services and functionalities mostly used.
• Any comment sent to AfricaPace about this web-site is the property of AfricaPace and can be used without limitations.
• Received information will not be treated as confidential.

Distribution of personal data


• As previously mentioned you must be aware that your profile and activities will be visible to other members. And parts of your profile will be visible to non-members visiting the site.
• You accept that in case our services for you and or other members are misused, the information we have at our disposal such as IP-address will be distributed to the relevant authorities in case this is required.
• AfricaPace is allowed to distribute all information about you on the web-site to third party if it happens anonymously or if third party is included in an agreement about confidentiality. Such distribution can take place in connection with statistical analysis about the web-site, market research and as preparation for commercials on AfricaPace.

Right to admission and correction

If you realise that information about you on AfricaPace are incorrect or misleading you have access to your profile where you will be able to do the necessary corrections when you log in to the web-site. Alternatively you can contact AfricaPace and request that the corrections are being made within a reasonable time frame.
You are at any time able to delete your profile by accessing “My Profile” and thereafter enter “Set-up”.

Use of data/ third party use of data

• AfricaPace can make use of an external company to carry our technical maintenance of the web-site. In such case the company will handle data under AfricaPace responsibility.
• Any company handling data on AfricaPace will operate under the same regulations and law as AfricaPace with regard to confidentiality.
• In case the whole company AfricaPace or parts thereof is handed over to third party you accept that your personal data on AfricaPace can be transferred to third party. This requires that third party respects and follows the conditions for data handling as mentioned in this document.

Change in business principles


AfricaPace maintains the right to change the above mentioned business principles at any time. If any change is made this will be publicised on our web-site where after the member has 30 days to become familiar with them. After 30 days it will be anticipated that all existing members accept and understand the changes. The members must concurrently update him or her self with potential changes with regard to this.

Conditions for uploading photos and pictures

All photos and pictures uploaded to AfricaPace must respect the following:
• The photos and pictures must be free from copy rights and other restricted or limiting use. Your must possess the complete rights to the photos and pictures that you upload. No third party must have the copy right or other rights to the photos or pictures that you upload. The people visible on the photos and pictures must have given their acceptance of public display.
• The photos and pictures must be clear. Unclear and modified photos and pictures will be deleted.
• The photos and pictures must not contain logos, links and references to other web-pages or companies and or their products.
• The photos and pictures must not appear violent, threatening, un-sober or have sexual tendencies. The photos and pictures must not show weapons, money or illegal drugs.
• Professional photos and pictures will be seen as false until a normal daily life photo or picture can be presented to verify its originality.

Profile photos and pictures

Profile photos and pictures are visible to all and this is the reason for that the regulations for uploading such material are more restrictive than for other categories. The profile photo or picture must show you alone.

In general

We maintain the right to block or delete all content that shows threatening, hate full or vulgar attitude. Any profile with discriminating behaviour towards individuals or groups based on ethnic, religious or sexual orientation will be deleted, blocked and reported to the legal authorities. Any profile that pretends to be another person (a false profile) will be deleted, blocked and reported to the legal authorities.

Pornographic material

Any type of pornographic material will be deleted immediately and without warning. This includes pictures or photos of sexual or erotic character as well as abuse and physical damage of any kind.

Protected material


Content on AfricaPace protected by copy right belongs to the rightful owner. Other members are therefore not allowed to use this material without the acceptance of the rightful owner. Any material used but not belonging to the rightful owner and protected by (©, ®, ™) will be deleted or blocked. This includes any picture which is not yours and material which belongs to AfricaPace.

Spam

Extensive distribution of one and same content is strictly illegal on our web-site and profiles showing such behaviour will be deleted from our web-site immediately.
This includes the sending of un-wanted emails, chain letters or unwanted commercials such as product promotion and marketing of web-sites.

Illegal activities

Generally, all illegal activities are not allowed on our web-site. The following will immediately be deleted from our web-site:
• Photos and pictures showing pornographic situations, illegal drugs, cash and weapons.
• Vira and other computer codes with the aim of harming or destroy IT equipment belonging to us our members.
• Any activity that motivates to illegal activities or distributes knowledge about it such as trade with illegal drugs and weapons.
• This Legal Notice shall be governed by Danish Law. Any dispute arising out of or in relation to this Legal Notice which can not be solved amicably shall be decided by the Danish Courts.
